Nope...normally Fellaini is playing on 8 or even 10.
Witsel and Nainggolan at 6 or 8.
Strootman is not a Belgian player, he's Dutch ;)

I'll admit I don't watch too much footy outside of United's matches, but from what I read, Belgium should have plenty better attacking midfielders than Fellaini. Put him in attack as a classic target man or way back where he doesn't have to dribble and can just pass to the sides or head.

Most of the time DeBruyne and Hazard play out wide, but this was under Marc Wimots, now we have Martinez as our coach...

Where does is said that 97% of those passes are to the side or backwards or forward?
It's something you use to further diminish the hard facts.
I know that many people (including you) obvious don't like a loyal Manchester United player...that's a pity.
I know that many people (including you) rather see a loyal Manchester United player leave (even for free)...that's a damn shame as Jose Mourinho also likes this player and uses him properly with the facts and numbers backing him (and me) up.
But you are right that it's not stated how the ball went with those passes, but many of you even say that he can't pass a ball...if this would be the case: would JM let him pass/play that much?

My initial thought when I saw the headline was that most of those passes are short sideways/back passes. But he's average pass length is compareable to others in the most succesfull list, but then again most of hes passes are sideways.
