After 10 years....

Hi Malta,
let me introduce myself, I am NinoMed (1587569), an old dinosaur of the Italian community, with a past in the staff, for decades engaged as GM and Mod, hence my passion for forums and active community life on hattrick.

In 2013, together with many other friends, I decided to open the second team in Malta (1631916), I fell in love with this community and started to collaborate to grow together the national teams and the whole Maltese movement.

One of the tools I want to reactivate with you today is HTpress.
It has been 10 years since Htpress was last published in the Maltese community, a very, very long time, so I decided to resume the tradition and animate Maltese users to participate in the forums.

Where to start again? Let's pick up where we left off.

In 2012 jillyjones published the history (15886) of his team, read by over 4900 users, I wonder where did you end up?

ijillyjones ha also describing his commitment to sharing the game with his friends.

Among them was steven_kaka (3296211), and it is with him that we want to start telling the story of the Maltese community again.

Hi Steven, finally after a few seasons of waiting we arrive at our proposal to start creating HTPress for community malta.
and what better occasion than to interview the user most successful of the last few years?

For those who don't know you, introduce yourself briefly. Who is steven_kaka on Hattrick and in life?

I started playing Hattrick thanks to my old friend jillyjones, owner of Maltezos, who was a colleague of mine and who used to tell me about the game back in 2005, and also gave me loads of tips when I first started playing. I don't know if he regrets it now as we were rivals in the premier division and in the cup several times, and I think he lost quite a few key battles 😛

In real life I am an accountant and a traveller, right now I'm writing this from Medellin in Colombia, the land of hot women and narcos. Travelling is my big passion in life, and is what motivates me on a daily basis. I am also a big AC Milan fan. Kaka was my favourite player at the time I started playing hattrick, and the inspiration for my username.

You are one of the best-known Maltese users, you are about to embark on your 18th birthday on Hattrick, in the last seasons you are the most successful Maltese with 6 league titles and 5 consecutive cups, but we also count other cups already in seasons 20.
What emotions has all this given you?

Wow, 18 years, I feel old now! If I remember correctly, I have won 15 league titles and 10 maltese cups, with my closest rival Harrymou of Vitoria Setubal having won 4 leagues and 3 cups. I don't know if I will ever return to glory as I am not so active at this moment, but it definitely has been a great ride. My only real regret is not winning the Hattrick Masters. I was very close a few seasons ago, when I felt I was the best team in the world, but I lost the semifinal in a very random game, where my italian opponent conceded he was very lucky, and he eventually won the final. I remember I was very sad after that, I really wanted my team but especially Malta to be one of the winners of the greatest trophy in the game, but the glory moments have certainly surpassed the disappointments.

You are in the process of rebuilding after being randomly eliminated in Hattrick Masters.
What kind of challenge did and does Hattrick represent for you today?

I think I was one of the first managers who adopted the long term strategy approach, and there was a lot of doubts in the community about this. I also was not sure about it but it eventually paid off, and this paved the way for Zurrieq Holland to become the club it was. Back then it was fun to win and make fun of my opponents (especially Roli Red Bulls), and the community was much more active than today. Nowadays there's not so much enthusiasm, and it's always sad to see great managers of the past hanging retiring from the game.

How much time do you spend per week on your team between training, market, game preparation, youth?

When I was competing at the highest level, I used to login every day, and probably spend around 3/4 hours weekly on my two teams and their youth squads. Nowadays, I spend a lot less time, logging in just to update formations and training for youths.

Do you participate in the life of the community, or do you follow it, or did you follow it? What about the national teams?

I admit I don't really participate as much as I used to, but I do follow the NT and their results. The manager knows I am a big fan of his work, and the entire italian community which gave us great results over the years.

What advice do you want to give to the community reading you.

Don't walk outside at night while drunk in South America.

Oh about Hattrick. One of the best things about this game is that it has several strategies which can get you to the too. Once you figure out which one you want to adopt, stick with it till the end. Changing plans and strategies constantly won't get you anywhere.

thank you Steven, an honor to read your words and advice.
