Youth Academy

Hello my dear friends from Suriname :)

I’ve been Coach of your National Teams several times now and I noticed that most of your private messages concern the growth of your young players in the youth teams, so I thought to write a small guide with some suggestions about it.

I’d begin talking about the scouts of your youth academy: hiring three of them is better than having just one of course (the luck is the key factor but in this way you increase a bit the chances to find an interesting young player).

If you hired three scouts, the suggestions when you call them are basically only 3: if they find a 15 years old player, it’s recomanded to accept him; if they find a 16 years old player, it could be fine to accept him only if with an average level of passable or anyway not less than inadequate looking that there’s the risk they are high with the days (which would mean very low chances to see the national teams); if you declined the proposal of the two previous scouts, accept always the proposal of the last one also if it is a terrible player, so he will be deleted from the database and nobody else will risk to find him in future (you can fire him at any time once he has joined the team).

If you hired just one scout (I hope you didn’t choose this option), you don’t have any alternative: accept the player whoever he is (good or bad) for the same reason stated above.

Now that you have enough decent players in your youth team (usually the starting ones aren’t so good), it’s time to let them play in a match and to do it you must join (or create) a league. The only suggestion here is to play in leagues with 4 teams because each time that all the matches are completed, you can leave the league to join (or create) a new one (still with only 4 teams in it) playing the first match of the new season waiting only two days (instead of a week if you don’t leave the old league).

At this point, let’s discover the potentials of your players…

It’s important to know that if you set the same primary and secondary training, the system will not let you discover any potential (the max in that skill) so it’s better to choose always two different trainings.
If you want to be sure to discover the potential of a specific player, to force its discovery it would be good to set in the same trained role other players who have that skill aleady known (bad players with all the skills revealed become useful for this job).

Talking about the training, other suggestions could be:

- begin with the slowest skills to be trained (defending, playmaking and scoring);
- don’t set the set pieces taker (unless you train set pieces) and the captain, the system will automatically choose the best ones for those roles;
- set “play creatively” as tactic, to increase the chances to discover the speciality of your players;
- set, for the above reason, the inner midfield players as “defensive” and the forwards as “normal” to favor powerful events;
- keep in the team some players (also if bad ones) with all the max level of the skills already discovered, so that you can focus the revelation of the second random potential on the good players deployed on the field;
- promote the 17 years old players in the main team as soon as possible (the training is faster than in the youth academy).

I hope you liked the idea of this vademecun on how to manage the players in the youth academy… of course there are other topics to touch upon but I think that as a small guide there are already enough informations (for any question, feel free to come and post on the forum to dispel your doubts).

Greetings from Italy!!!
