4-8-2024 Griggs Return Triumphant

Oceania National Player Andrew Griggs, a former Mangroves YA player, has returned to the club on a $10 million transfer after 15 seasons in Taipei.

Griggs, who played alongside Rodney Eggmolesse in the Mangroves Youth System, was sold at age 17 after former coach Aisea Hagan saw no potential in the boys tackling ability. Having always wished to return to Vanuatu, Griggs was afforded the opportunity after 15 seasons abroad. With Paul Hammon looking to take the club into the future, Griggs was signed to boost the experience of the almost homegrown squad.

In his two games so far, Mangroves avenged their only loss of the season with a 4-0 thumping of Dynamo Tasmania before a spectacular solo-effort by Griggs was the difference against Pioneer Valley in their most recent game. Griggs showed the speed of a younger man, by outpacing a defender to slot home the only goal of the game. The 1-0 win keeps Mangroves on top of IV.33.
