5-26-2014 Stick Men Capture Inaugural Memorial Day Weekend Derby Series

Stick Men 03 needed the rubber match, but they were decisive in a 5-2 win that gave them the first MDWDS series.

03 took the opener despite a second yellow to Richard Marktredowitz that left them down to ten men for the final 36 minutes. They opened in a 2-5-3 for the first time in years, seemingly catching Aeronauts off guard in their traditional 2-5-3, and finding plenty of room behind the back line for a 4-0 win.

Aeronauts bounced back for a 4-2 win behind a brace from Rusty Dilisio. In the finale, 03 jumped out to a five goal lead inside of the hour mark and cruised to the win in the clincher. Lubomír Křiva was the series MVP with five goals.

The weekend may also serve as a farewell to long time Stick Men Matias Puumalainen, Radoslav Koychev and Kilian Ritzert as the trio are rumored to be on their way out prior to the club's friendly with First Floor Pumas this week.
